NEW TILESETS: I COULDN’T HELP MYSELF

Have I mentioned I’m not a fan of the RTP?

Oh? I have. Okay, well I got some new tilesets during the RPGMaker Web Summer Sale:

The famous FSM materials!

They are amazing by the way, beautiful really.

But, if we buy what everyone else uses aren’t we still looking like RTP/everyone else?

We were using RTP from beginning so anything is an improvement. Plus, as always, I do my own edits anywho. Heheh.

One of my edits tends to always be the grass. I was actually really liking the brightness of the grass I was using before, so I did some edits to brighten up the grass in FSM. Side by side it looks like a slight change but in game it really affects the mood:

Left is my brighter grass, Right is the original:

I know it doesn’t look like much side by side, but it really is in game.

VACATION AND TILESET EDITS

So there was a time where my mum in law was staying with us and then we were on vacation for a week so I didn’t really keep up with RF, but what I have been doing is working with the tilesets and doing some mapping.

While FSM is beautiful it still wasn’t bright enough for what I wanted for the game. Really, it still sets a mood that I think is more serious but I don’t want to go editing again what I think I’d have to edit (the grass is too detailed for me I think) but I did brighten up the forest trees and this is what I got:

Am I perhaps making the FSM look worse by editing it so much? Yes, probably, but I’m trying to keep a lighter feel for this game, so the brighter colors is what I’m looking for. And yeah, PandaMaru’s trees don’t fit the best but I want the variety.

Honestly it’s been a while since I actually worked on this so I’d have to take some time to figure out what I actually need to be doing, but I figured I’d get some mapping done and start placing in some monsters for more testing. Get some official enemy troops set up.

I know I still have to work on the quest and crafting system, and figure out the movesets and what armors will add said moves. There’s a lot to do, but sometimes you just need a break from that and tilesets and sprite work gives me that break.

Short post again because, yes I’m close the the end of the dev log doc, and because the next part rolls into a different topic that I didn’t want to mush together.

Thanks for keeping up and God bless,
